Last week, we covered what not to say in your pageant interview (http://winapageant.com/126).

This week, we're going to talk about what not to do.

In most cases, judges want a woman that is relatable. When you show up as an extremist, it is uncomfortable to the judges.

There are 3 spectrums at play that you have to manage with self-control and patience so you don't end up on the extreme ends of the spectrums.

Your pageant interview is going to fly by.

Not only is it fast, but interview is like living in a time-warp where every minute feels like 5 seconds.

So, you have to be sure you maximize every moment and communicate like a pro.

Today, we're going to cover the things that many women accidentally or nervously say that stand to waste your time and annoy your judges.

Pageant interview is the only phase of competition that happens behind closed doors, so it's hard to know what to expect in there.
Especially if you've never really seen it done right.

There are the obvious expectations of format, like sitting, standing, 1:1, panel; and the physical environment like if the interview will be in a hotel conference room or a school cafeteria and whether or not there will be a podium or other props.

I recommend asking your director all those questions before you get to the pageant so you have an idea of what to expect.

But still, regardless of all those things, there are some universal truths that you can expect. That's what we're about to discuss.

If you know these universal expectations, then it won't matter the setting or format - you'll be able to rock your interview!

There is no mystery about what the judges aren't looking for.

They aren't looking for a self-centered, mean girl who hates people.

What they are looking for is a much longer list.

We can't know the entire list of what the judges want in a titleholder (because frankly, they won't know until they meet her), but there are three specific characteristics that historically win - even if the judges aren't necessarily looking' for them.

The good news is: you can communicate all of them if you prepare in a mindful way.

The bad news is: so can everyone else.

More good news is: few women actually take the time to prepare

If you apply the 3 characteristics I'm about to teach you to your pageant preparation, you'll already be light-years ahead of the competition.

Today, I'm going to share the top 5 questions that you can expect to be asked in your pageant interview.

And, I'll help you develop your own answer by given you some sample answers to get your creative juices flowing.

The point of this exercise is not so that you'll memorize answers, but rather so that you can get to know yourself in a variety of ways and do some self-reflection in comfort before you're asked these questions under pressure.

When so much of your mental, emotional, and physical energy is put toward something you view as a goal to achieve left in the hands of 5 strangers...

...then not achieving it can feel like a massive shock coupled with the stages of grief like anger and depression, even self-loathing and pity.

At the very least, even the most emotionally well-adjusted human will feel let down and the sobering reality of depleted adrenal glands makes you want to just eat chocolate cake, lay in bed all day, watch cartoons, and swear you'll never compete in a pageant - ever - again.

In this episode, I'm going to teach you to brace yourself to quickly recover from a pageant loss.

To save you the sad backstage tears, the fake smile at the after party, and the days or weeks of depression that pageantry could force you into - if you don't follow these steps.

Today's Question comes from Lisbeth. She asks:
Pantyhose - yes or no? The bare-legged look has been popular for a long time. Does it apply to interview? How about evening gown, especially if the gown has a slit? I generally liked going bare-legged during evening gown since I may be wearing open toed shoes, but even if I'm not, bare feet give me more a grip on the sole of my shoe.
But interview....what is your advice? Thank you!

Great news! The Pageant Interview Game Plan is now open for enrollment and we're celebrating with a free pageant course!

The Free Pageant Course is a 3-day video training that will teach you the 3 Rookie Pageant Interview Mistakes... and, how to avoid them.

You can enter your name and email to get the course at >>> http://FreePageantCourse.com

When you sign up for the Free Pageant Course, you'll get an email each of the 3 days with a video (each video is about 10 minutes) explaining why women make the mistake and how you can avoid it.

This does two things for you:
1 - You'll figure out what most women never figure out their entire pageant career because they keep making these mistakes and no one's told them not to. In fact, the first of the three rookie mistakes is probably the easiest to avoid, but still the most common mistake.

2 - This free pageant course allows you to experience a bit of my teaching style. You'll be able to see if we click and if you want to learn more from me. If not, then you can just stick with the free pageant course. But, if you are ready to learn more, you'll be given the opportunity to get into the Game Plan at the end of the 3 days of the Free Pageant Course.

If it's a fit for you, then you'll be perfectly primed to take it to the next level. If not, then that's okay too.

I'd love to see you in the Free Pageant Course to help us celebrate the re-opening of the Game Plan!

In today's episode, I want to share with you some advice from Ms Lu Parker, Miss USA 1994 about preparing for your pageant interview that I love.

In my pageant preparation, one of my goals was to constantly put myself in new situations where I could meet and interact with new people. The idea of this is to get more and more comfortable talking with ease to strangers in attempt to remove the pressure during pageant interview. As I prepared, I realized the more I had unique experiences, the more fun the interview process became.

Ms. Parker takes this to a whole new level! In this episode, I share her idea and use it to create a strategy you can implement to help you prepare for your pageant interview.

When you implement this 10-step strategy, you'll gain skills in leadership, flipping the power dynamic, and discover a flow for interview timing.

Often, we feel like a roommate is more our competition, but really most pageant women just want to love and be loved.

You've heard the scary stories of nair in shampoo, ripping zippers out, or hogging all the closet space. Crazy stuff does happen, but this isn't the norm. However, competition and exhaustion and the emotional rollercoaster of pageantry often brings out the worst in people. So, you'll have to actively prepare to be a good friend and earn a good friend in your pageant roommate.

I have 5 tips to help you make friends with your pageant roommate - and ensure she won't put nair in your shampoo. ;)
